Description of Casa Hogar Luz Alba

The project of the Casa Hogar was founded a private initiative of a group of people sensitive to the unfortunate reality of childhood in Peru, especially from Arequipa. It also reflects the mission of The Institute of Universal Charity Peru (El Instituto de la Caridad Universal - ICU), which is the supervisory institution of the Casa Hogar Luz Alba.

We are located in Arequipa, because people decided to go ahead with this challenge came from this city. However, this initiative is open to continue in other parts of Peru, in areas less economically and socially deprived.

La Casa Hogar Luz Alba, constitutes an adequate and safe space, but transient, to protect the girl or boy, in the shortest time possible, be reintegrating their consanguineous family or adoptive family. For girls or boys without these two alternatives, constitute the sole and final home meet until 18 years of age.

The location of Casa Hogar, the first year, was provided by a member of The Institute of Universal Charity, is currently rented. Alignment and improvement of these premises was conducted from January to April 2007, to make suitable to accommodate the girls. We currently have 19 children: 4 babies, 1 baby of one month, 1 baby of 4 months, 1 baby of 5 months and 1 baby a year (this baby came to the Casa Hogar 3 days of birth), 1 child in a years and eleven months old, 1 girl, 2 years old, 3 children three years old, 1 girl four years, 2 children 5 years of age, 1 child of 6 years old, 3 children 7 years 1 girl 8 years old and 2 girls 10 years of age, each with its own drama and just give us love and understanding.

The personnel working at the Casa Hogar Luz Alba is completely voluntary, non-wage earning, and what makes this work full time, with the remaining 24 hours of the day (not merely meet shifts, but to meet objectives), which gives the Casa Hogar characteristics of a family home, this being the highest value for the training, especially in the emotional-affective, the girl-children who remain in our institution.

The financial and material support that we receive is intended for food, clothing, education, health, recreation, etc.. This support, however limited, from the staff of the Institute of Charity Universal Peru and people of good will that joined this effort.

We are not receiving financial or material support from the Government or national or foreign institutions. But we need much help, especially for land and build the room of Casa Hogar with the needs of children, because the location we have is very small and rented.
